You may have heard that the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Union of Northern Workers have been working to negotiate a collective agreement
The parties will use the help of a mediator to try to resolve outstanding issues in the collective bargaining process
The GNWT, like many employers across the country is faced with very real fiscal challenges
But unlike many other employers, the GNWT has not presented employees with wage-freezes or roll-backs in order to deal with these challenges
The GNWT respects and values the important contributions made by public servants throughout the Northwest Territories and has made an offer to the union that we believe provides economic certainty to our employees, while allowing the GNWT to ride out what we project to be a very volatile economic situation over the next four years
